How do you charge for Renovations & Additions?
Great question! Due to the vast differences in projects, Renovations & Additions are quoted on a case per case basis, however, past projects suggest a price range of $2 to $4 per square foot.
How do you charge for Tiny Home designs?
Tiny Homes are super fun to design because of the multitude of design options, but they are also very intricate and labor intensive from a design point of view. For this reason, we typically gather as much information as possible from you before providing a quote.
When you are designing my Renovation, how do I send you the dimensions of the existing structure (a.k.a. the as-builts)?
Typically, we would ask you to sketch up the existing structure on graph paper as best you can and send us a screen shot or PDF via email. We can guide you through this process as needed.
Is a custom home what I'm after?
A custom home is a one-of-a-kind house that is designed for a specific client and for a particular location. The custom home builder may use plans created by an architect or by a professional home designer. Custom homes provide consumers with the opportunity to control layout, lot size, and accessibility. In most cases, custom home builders construct on land the home buyer already owns. Some developers sell fully serviced lots specifically for the construction of custom homes. This makes it easy to build a custom home since the lot is construction-ready and builders can focus purely on the design of the home.
Should I really hire a designer who isn't in my city or town?
In our experience the process almost works better remotely. For example, we can share our computer screen with you virtually and zoom in on the finest details of your plans. PDF check-sets are sent quickly and easily, and emailed changes arrive in the same amount of time whether you are 1000 miles away, or just down the road!
